Keep Holding On… Or Not

LET GO Let it go, let it go! Can’t hold it back anymore! ….. Oh! Hi!

Is it time for you to let go of something that has been lingering in your life for too long? I know I do, and together, we can let go of what hinders us from living life with inner peace.

For me, it is the emotional abuse I endured with my ex. Never being enough, not being allowed to talk to friends or family when I felt upset or just in general, or not being able to live out my full potential. All of it was squeezing the life out of me and still does because I can still hear the negative voice in my head and expect it to come out of the mouth of my current boyfriend who is the complete opposite of my ex.

I haven’t figured out a way to permanently let go, but I have found that when I feel the mental wounds open up, I get out my ointment: the Bible along with  Christian music. I feel instant relief. I feel God’s arms wrap around me. I feel Him as my Father, kiss my ouchy to make it feel better. I hear Him tell me, “it will be okay. Remember, I am using this for My plan.”

So maybe there is something that you can let go of permanently or maybe there is something that you need to constantly throw away. Those constant reminders are the devil’s way of bringing you down. So instead of just letting your burden go, let it go into God’s hands to cast back into Hell.

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭55:22‬ ‭NIV‬‬

When you need to cast your cares to God, repeat these verses and maybe pray something like this:

Father, I thank you for you Word. I thank you that You stay true to Your Word. Please be with me now as I struggle with (fill in here). I ask You to take this burden from me (again) so that I may focus on the plan that You have for me. Please reveal how to use this burden for Your glory. I ask this in Jesus’ Holy Name. Amen.

Are you holding on to something that hinders your life or relationships with others or God?

  1. It always surprises me when I discover something I’m hanging onto, sometimes for a very long time, that I need to release to Jesus. Wounds are more easy to spot, but hard to release. Negative opinions about others are harder to spot, but also need to be released. And then there are those pesky little things called unforgiveness, where we need to release forgiveness. *sigh* It’s all part of growing up in Jesus, isn’t it. 🙂
