A couple years ago, I decided that I liked the idea of having an hour before bed without technology. Now this has been suggested by many sleep specialists and researchers. I thought that this would be the perfect time to bring myself into a quiet time with God. Keep reading to find out what happens during those hours. I preferred time to go to bed is at 10:00 or 10:30. On the evenings that I’m able to, at 9:00, I will put my favorite Spotify playlist that really puts me in the presence of God. It’s called Coffeehouse Chill which has many acoustic versions of Christian songs on that list. Just before 9:00, I will prepare my peppermint tea.
So it’s 9:00, tea is in hand and music is on. Now its time to dive in! First, I will plan out the next day if it’s needed and check in with myself on the goals I have set for myself that’s in planner. That usually takes 15 minutes.
Then for 15 minutes, I will read the Bible Study book I am currently reading. Right now, that means “The Resolution for Women” by Priscilla Shirer. If I want it to be a longer night, I will continue reading the Bible study book for another 15 minutes.
I then will read one story from the book “It’s A God Thing: When Miracles Happen to Everyday People” by Don Jacobson. I find it wonderful to end my day with tears of joy for the people these miracles have happened to.
Finally, I will end my hour or hour and a half with reading a segment in the Bible. If I have something I want to focus on in particular, I will use the concordance. Otherwise, I leave it to whatever page it opens to. Outside of this hour, I am reading the Bible by plan with YouVersion, so I let God speak to me through the page my Bible opens to. I will read until my heart is content.
